No Depression; The Ultimate Roots Music Journal
No Depression, the leading source for roots music journalism, was founded in 1995 and relaunched under the FreshGrass Foundation, an award-winning nonprofit, in 2015. The publication currently comprises a daily-updated website with album reviews, columns, and short features, as well as a quarterly, long-form, 100-page journal that's available in print and online.
The Summer 2023 issue of No Depression is out now, featuring guest editor Dom Flemons! The singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and archivist shared stories of his latest album, Traveling Wildfire, in a profile and worked with No Depression to conceptualize a story about tintype photography and roots music. Additionally, the Summer issue includes an anniversary piece on Soul Journey featuring Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, a celebration of Doc Watson's centennial (featuring Sam Bush, Old Crow Medicine Show, and Chris Eldridge, never-before-printed comics about the life of Jason Molina (Songs: Ohia) and an essay written by Billy Bragg.
